Drug & Alcohol Residential Treatment Program near Santa Rosa, CA

For more than 60 years, residential care has been the centerpiece of treatment at Azure Acres. Designed to give men and women who are struggling with substance use disorders the ability to gain freedom from addiction, our residential program combines supportive care with a peaceful and serene location in Sebastopol, California.

Understand Residential Treatment at Azure Acres

Built in 1906 and located in Santa Rosa, California, the lodge that is our main facility has been the location where more than 20,000 people have taken their first steps towards freedom from substance abuse. We believe that there are different types of substance use disorders that require different treatment approaches, and we see substance abuse as a chronic relapsing illness that requires long-term professional help if it is to be overcome. The treatments we use in our residential program include the following empirically supported interventions:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
  • Client-centered therapy
  • 12-Step facilitation

Our Residential Treatment Therapies

These treatments adhere to a regular schedule and are administered in the context of the following activities:

Individual therapy: Individual therapy gives residents an opportunity to meet with a counselor at least once per week and process behavioral and/or emotional issues that are related to the recovery process. This one-on-one time allows residents to discuss material that they may not feel comfortable bringing up in a group setting.

Family therapy: At Azure Acres Treatment Center, we believe that addiction affects the entire family. As a result, we provide times for family members to come together and learn how to support each other as well as their loved one in recovery. We offer both weekly family education opportunities and an intensive family program that occurs at least one time during residential treatment.

Groups: Groups are in many ways the backbone of treatment at our Sonoma County rehab center. Groups allow residents to come together, support each other, and learn from each other.  Group topics include forgiveness, honesty, anger, denial, anxiety, codependence, acceptance, and 12-Step education.

Experiential therapy: Weekly experiential therapy allows residents the chance to involve their bodies in the healing process. At Azure Acres, we offer experiential therapies such as qigong, role playing, and expressive arts.
