QuinShunda “Quin” Carter, PMHNP-BC
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
QuinShunda “Quin” Carter is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). She has been employed as a Psych NP with Azure Acres since September 2022.
In addition to her role at Azure, Quin serves as a Clinical Adjunct Instructor for Walden University’s Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse program. She began her training at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing before going on to obtain her Master’s in Science Nursing from Walden with a specialty in psychiatry. She is still enrolled at Walden and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Nursing Practice, expecting complete her program in June 2023.
For over 25 years, Quin has cared for adolescent and adult patients in a variety of settings, including inpatient hospitals, community settings, group homes, and outpatient practices. She has dedicated much of her nursing career to working with clients suffering from addiction and severe mental illnesses such as bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.
Quin specializes in behavioral health and treating clients across the lifespan, from adolescence to adulthood. She has completed specialized training in addiction, motivational interviewing, and trauma-focused therapy. As both a clinical practitioner and adjunct clinical instructor, she has gained extensive experience delivering telehealth services to patients and educating nurse practitioners in the clinical setting on mental health diagnoses.
