Kristin Kolbinski, Psy.D., EMDR-Trained

Assistant Clinical Director & Family Workshop Manager

Kristin joined Azure Acres’ Clinical Team in September 2022 as a therapist. She obtained her Master of Forensic Psychology from Argosy University in Santa Ana, CA in 2009 and a Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Forensic Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Irvine, CA in 2016.

Early in her professional career, Kristin chose to devote herself to treating some of the toughest and most underserved populations in her field. She spent a year serving adults discharged from the California Department of State Hospitals under conditional release, and four and a half years with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation at CHCF-Stockton and San Quentin State Prison where she was part of their new MAT program rollout. Kristin also spent time providing counseling to sex offenders on parole and completed her Pre-Doctoral internship inside Orange County Juvenile Hall. Prior to becoming a Psychologist, she spent time as a Case Manager with HIV+ adults in her hometown of Poughkeepsie, NY. During this time, Kristin realized how much she enjoyed working with SUD and co-occurring patients.

Through providing person-centered addiction recovery, Kristin saw firsthand the difference an empathetic and holistic approach to treatment can make. The culmination of her experience inspired her to apply at Azure Acres. Kristin, or “Dr. K” as her patients call her, strives to provide her clients with the hope, fortitude, and strength they need to discover their purpose. Her goal is to be a supportive and accessible resource for people seeking to break their dependency on drugs and alcohol by helping them tap into their unique gifts, and find autonomy in sobriety.

In her free time, Kristin enjoys spending time with her two kitties, family, and friends. She loves coffee, traveling, the beach, and relaxing at home with a good book or movie.
